There are the trophies you get just for showing up, and then there are the ones you have to pull out of someone else's hands to put up on your mantle.

Those prizes come with scars. Scars from the doing–scrapes, twists, and breaks. And scars from the wanting–so bad you try and try again.

Risking disappointment, putting it all on the line, falling on your face... where does the inspiration come from to get up and go harder?

There is no sure path to winning some badges of honor. Those are earned, not given.
